Unmodified and unraced 'Blue Black Metallic' 1991 Mercedes 190E 2.5 - 16V - EVO 2. With a beautiful full black leather interior and factory supplied electric sliding roof. This limited production sport sedan is powered by the short-stroke 4 cylinder with 16 valve cylinder head and AMG Powerpack. Which raises the engine output till 235 bhp. Giving it a top speed of 250 km/h and an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Attached to a 5 speed 'dog leg' ZF manual gearbox.
25 years ago this sport saloon laid the foundations for the special tradition of high performance vehicles such as are still offered by Mercedes AMG. In 1990 Mercedes built this limited production of 500 exceptional cars for DTM homologation reasons. And with the success of the first Evolution models, the Evo 2 was already sold out before the first examples had been completed. And with success because the 190 evo 2 took the first 3 places in the DTM championship season of 1992. So more DTM experiences for the road is not possible.
The Evo 2 included the engine powerpack but also the full SLS suspension allowing to adjust the vehicle ride height (3 positions) from an interior switch. Another obvious modification to the Evo 2 is the radical body kit designed by Prof Richard Eppler, with a large adjustable rear wing, rear window spoiler and the Evolution 2 - 17 inch light alloy wheels.
This particular example nr 276/500 was originally delivered in France in the region of Lyon. The French owner exported the car to Spain in 2004 with 64.000 km on the odometer. A significant invoice at 66.000 km shows that a complete engine rebuild was done. As most of the Evolution 2 cars. Other invoices and forum posts during the years confirm the actual total reading of 106.000 km. Beautiful examples as this one rarely come up for sale.
The Evo 2 is an exceptional car in the history of Mercedes because all technical evolutions and possibilities of the early 90's were used.
For years this sports sedan is already a sought after car by collectors and connoisseurs. And because it was a real 'poster car' and still a childhood dream for many petrolheads we believe and expect that demand will still increase in the future.
It's complete with all manuals, books, pouch and the original key. With the jack and warning triangle, the original radio and the first aid kit. Complete as it was delivered new.
A real unique opportunity to acquire Mercedes history.
